Being promoted while temporarily assigned

JOINT BASE PEARL HARBOR-HICKAM, Hawaii -- Tech. Sgt. Christopher Yancy received a promotion to the rank of Master Sgt. while temporarily assigned to Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii, April 15, 2014.

Yancy serves as a mission capability technician on the Quick Response Flight with the 126th Supply Chain Management Squadron (SCMS). He has more than 13 years of combined military time, serving three years of duty in the U.S. Air Force, and the remainder in the Illinois Air National Guard. He started working for the 126 SCMS in 2008.

"Master Sgt. Christopher Yancy takes 'going the extra mile' to a whole new level. He was provided with a great opportunity and accomplishment tied into one when he was promoted while on a temporary duty assignment," said Master Sgt. Christopher Johnson, who works alongside Yancy at the SCMS.

Yancy stated that this was a unique opportunity to receive his promotion while on a training exercise with other members of the 126th Air Refueling Wing located at Scott Air Force Base, Ill.

"It was great to be promoted in a place with such a rich military history," said Yancy.

During this deployment, he served as team lead for the 126 SCMS, supporting the 154th Logistics Readiness Squadron (LRS). His duties included assisting the 154 LRS with disposition of excess parts, found on base assets, and assigning 126th personnel to mobility, equipment, and other areas of supply.
