Alexander assumes leadership of newly formed squadron

Major Majornetta Alexander, Commander of the Headquarters Illinois Air National Guard Detachment 2 and Chief of the 635th Supply Chain Management Group (SCMG) Management and Division Systems, Scott Air Force Base, Ill., became the first director of the newly formed 437th Supply Chain Operations Squadron (SCOS), during an assumption of leadership at Scott AFB on July 8.

As the director of the 437th SCOS, Maj. Alexander will command 52 guardsmen and operationally lead 137 military and civilian personnel providing daily supply support to over 1,300 Special Operations, Rotary and Mobility Air Force's (MAF) type weapon systems across the Air Force enterprise.

The 437th SCOS is one of three new squadrons that stood-up on July 8 at Scott AFB as part of a realignment that formed the 635th Supply Chain Operations Wing (SCOW), based out of Scott AFB.

The 635th SCOW has two groups attached to it, the 735th Supply Chain Operations Group (SCOG), based out of Langley, Va., and the 635th SCOG, based out of Scott AFB. The 435th, 436th and 437th SCOS will be attached to the 635th SCOG, with three other squadrons being aligned with the 735th SCOG.

The 437th SCOS will be responsible for ensuring the 635th SCOG's supply activities comply with published U.S. Air Force guidance and directives while provisioning enterprise-wide supply activities in systems, funds, equipment, records maintenance and analysis.

The Illinois Air National Guard's (ILANG)126th Air Refueling Wing has been in a Classic Association with the it's Active Duty counterparts of the 635th SCMG for over a year as part of the Air Force's 2005 Base Re-alignment and Closure (BRAC) actions coupled with a Total Force Initiative or TFI.

For Alexander, this appointment as director of the 437th SCOS makes her the first ILANG officer to be appointed to such a position under the Air Force's TFI.
