Security Forces members deploy in support of operations in Afghanistan Published Aug. 4, 2011 By Major Jennifer C. Howsare 126 ARW Public Affairs Office Scott AFB, Ill. -- Friends and family of the 126th Security Forces Squadron recently said goodbye to a 13-man team deploying to a forward operating location in the Afghanistan Area of Responsibility (AOR). Seven of the 13 members have deployed multiple times but for six members this will be their first deployment. Deploying Security Forces troops, along with their friends and family, were given a warm send-off by Col Nezamis and Command Chief Stevens along with numerous Wing members and a volunteer staff from the USO that provided food and deployment care packages. The team will have a 15-day stop at Creech AFB, NV for pre-deployment training and will then depart the U.S. for their 6-month tour in the AOR. The team's primary mission while deployed will be to provide Air Base defense to protect U.S. personnel and assets. Protection must also be provided to any coalition forces that may be staged or are transitioning through the AOR.
