The Community College of the Air Force is the largest community college in the world and the only one in the Department of Defense.

The CCAF was activated in 1972 to gain academic recognition for technical training conducted by Air Force schools.

The CCAF offers 67 degrees in five areas; aircraft and missile maintenance, electronics and telecommunications, allied health, logistics and resources, and public and support services.

The mission statement of the CCAF is to, "Offer and award job-related associate in applied science degrees and other academic credentials that enhance mission readiness, contribute to recruiting, assist in retention , and support the career transitions of Air Force enlisted members."

The 126th Air Refueling Wing currently has over 800 Personnel eligible for CCAF degrees. Of those, more than 119 have completed a CCAF degree.

In 2008, 18 Wing members received their CCAF degrees, and the 126 ARW received a ranking of 42 out of 90 ANG Wings. Our sister wings in Springfield and Peoria ranked number one and number two, respectively. In 2009, lets make it a goal of the 126 ARW to rise to the top of the list and make Illinois the number one state in the entire Air National Guard.

In June, an email was sent to each individual who is potentially within a few courses of completing the requirements to obtain their CCAF degree.

The next phase in email notifications will go out to those who are still in pursuit of their CCAF degree however, there is no need to wait on the email.

Please inquire via the AF Virtual Education Center or visit the Base Education and Training Office to see what you need to receive your CCAF degree toady!
